  • Formal Operational

    Highly capable of abstract thought. More complex ideas and language. Challenge more abstract schemas.
  • Late Adolescence

    College. Financial independence. More concern for others. Less concern for physical appearance. Stronger relationships with family. Career driven. Deeper relationships/intimacy.
  • Early Adulthood

    Intimacy vs. Isolation. Personal commitment to self in order to have deeper commitments to others. Positive outcome: have love, friendship, families. Negative outcome: isolation, fearful of commitment, depression.
  • Middle Adulthood

    Generativity vs. Stagnation. Legacy vs. midlife crisis. Analyze what you leave behind, if you've contributed to society, if you've taught your children. If you feel like you're not leaving anything behind, you feel unfulfilled and regretful.
  • Maturity

    Integrity vs. despair. Self-reflection, looking back on life. Feel fulfilled and accept death or unfilled and afraid to die.
