African Americans arrived to Jamestown
African americans arrived in James town in August 1619. All people except the Negros were to be with Arms and Ammunition. This is an important event because the white people are taking the black's people freedom away, they are making them do the hard work and paying them less, the reason why they do this is because they know that the black people can't to anything because there was a lot of people who would of want to take that job. -
Africans fights
African's rights. In 1662 congress passed a law that children that were born in during slave they were automatically slave, but not their parents just the children. In 1670 the blacks and the Indians could no longer own white indentured servants.
This is an important event because the blacks people wanted to have to have their own land. -
Eli Whitney came up with "Cotton Gin"
In 1783 Eli Whitney came up with an invention "Cotton Gin," which became really helpful back then. This was a really good invention because the Cotton Gin was able to reduce the time it took to separate seeds from cotton. Which played a really good rule because it increase the number of plantations wanting to go from crops to cotton. By that time the South and North were different; the South was based in plantations systems, while the North was based on society, different cultures and classes. -
Alexander Stephens
Stephens was an politician who served the Georgia legislature and the U.S. House of Representatives before the Civil War. During his career he defended slavery. He came up with an union, state of Georgia voted in 1861on his favor. Later that year he became vice president because of his speech "The great truth that negro is not equal to the white man, that slavery, to the superior race, is his natural and normal. his is important because he is saying that the negros are natural and normal. -
Americans expand their land.
n 1820 the Americans began to expand the their land from Louisiana and from the Mexican war. This plays an important rule in America because they had more land, which means more people and science ban then slavery was a big problem more people would want to get slavery. This also plays a big rule because now the americans wanted slavery and they wanted to be free. -
Abolitionist Movement.
Abolitionist Movement- In the early 1830s all those people who shied to see that institution abolished with Unites states were becoming more influential. They claimed to have a higher law and to obedience to the Constitution's guarantee that a fugitive from a state would be consider fugitive in all states. Many people wanted to have more higher laws, laws that the white people should follow like treating the Africans equal. -
Fugitive slave act
Only 332 fugitives slaves were returned to the South between 1850 and 1860. they were part of a group laws, laws that are known as "Compromise of 1850. In this compromise the antislavery people gained the admission of California as a free state. This fugitive slave act let the hunters have the right to legally claim that any black people they saw was an escaped slave, which that made the Africans have less power than the white people because they felt less than them. -
Dred Scott request.
Dred Scott was was a slavery citizen whose case eventually ended up in the Supreme Court. In1857 his decision was denied his request of stating that no person with African blood could become a United States citizen. This in an important event because the Civil war had to do with slavery. Many Americans didn't wanted the Africans to be slave, and to become a citizen of United States because they though they were going to take over. -
John Brown's band.
Harpers FerryMr. John Brown had a land of 21 people they were white and black he led them go into Harpers Ferry Virginia. He started a slavery uprising, which killed many citizens. This is an important event because they are including the blacks, only some people, but that's a good start. -
Abraham Lincoln election
In 1860 Abraham Lincoln was elected. This caused so many problems with the South because they thought that he was antislavery and in favor of the Northern interests. This plays an important rule because the South and the North started to fight. The souther people wanted Lincoln to be in their side, but they though he was in the Norther side.
