Second story was built on my house
This was significant because before we started building the second story we were considering moving. Our house was getting too small, but we really did not want to move because we loved our neighbourhood and we had a lot of friends in our area. I was really happy when my parents decided to build a second story instead of moving. It also meant that I would get a bigger room and I got to choose the way my room was decorated. I still remember this process very well which is why it was significant. -
First day at The Little School House
This day was significant because it was the first school I ever went to. When I started at The Little School House I was very shy around people that I did not know. I only went to this school for one year because I was ready to start kindergarten. By the end of attending this school I had made some great friends and was no longer as shy. -
Getting my first pair of professional skates
I had always loved skating and was starting to learn new jumps and spins. I first learned to skate when I was 4 and when I was 5 my parents signed me up for skating lessons. This was significant to me because skating became a huge part of my life. I was always on the ice and had many lessons. Even though I am no longer figure skater I still love skating and go skating very often throughout the winter months. -
My first vacation
My first vacation was to Florida. This is significant because since then I have gone on vacation to Florida every year. This was one of my favourite vacations because we went to Disney World in Orlando and I was so excited to meet all my favourite Disney characters. We also went to Tampa to go to the beach and another amusement park called Busch Gardens. My family and I loved these two areas of Florida so much that we have gone back very many times. -
First soccer trophy
I have always loved soccer and have enjoyed playing it since I was very young. I was so happy when my soccer team won a tournament because it was the first time that I had won a trophy. This was also a big deal to me because my grandpa was so proud. He had been a soccer player on the world cup team when he lived in the Netherlands and he was the one that taught me to play soccer. We would always watch soccer games together and he would always play soccer with me. -
First concert
The first concert that I ever went to was Hilary Duff. This was significant to me for two reasons. The first reason was because I loved Hilary Duff and I admired her so going to her concert made me really happy. The second reason was because I had so much fun at the concert that I have been so several since then. I realized how much I loved music and music is something that has always made me smile. -
First trip to Discovery Cove
This was a very significant trip for me because it was when I first discovered I was interested in becoming a marine biologist because I loved animal’s especially marine animals. I had the opportunity to swim with dolphins, snorkel in coral reefs and work with sting rays. I found this very interesting and had learned all about the rescue process and training of these animals. Ever since then I have learned more about this career path and have had more experiences with marine animals. -
My neighbour moving
My neighbour moving was very significant because he was one of my closest friends and we have known each other for a very long time. His name was Mitchell and he is two years younger than me. Growing up he was like my brother and we did everything together. Our parents were really good friends so we were always at each other’s house. Mitchell moving away was very upsetting for the both of us because we no longer see each other every day and it's very different in my neighbourhood without him. -
My mom having cancer
This changed my life because I realized how important it is to spend as much time as possible with the people you care about because you never know what's going to happen. It was a tough few months but now my mom is healthy again and this brought me closer to her. I realized that it is important to live a healthy and happy lifestyle because you never know what could happen. This also made me respect my mom even more because she stayed positive through the entire treatment process. -
grade 8 graduation
Grade 8 graduation is significant because it meant the last year of elementary school. I had been going to the same school my whole life and had met a lot of great people. It was a sad night for everyone because we knew that not everyone was going to the same school next year. Most of us had known each other for a very long time and graduation made everyone realize we had to say our goodbyes. It was a great night and symbolized everyone growing up and moving on to the next step in their life. -
First day of highschool
The first day of high school was significant because it was the next step in my life. I went to high school knowing very few people because it was not the same school as most of my friends. On the first day I met some really nice people who I am still very close with today. -
First cousins wedding
My cousin getting married was very significant for me because it was when I realized that everyone is growing up and things were going to be different. Most of my cousins are older than me but we're all still very close. My cousin getting married meant that his wife would be at the family get together and he would be a lot busier now. It was a lot of fun and I got to know my cousins new wife better. She was actually really nice and we became close. -
Going on my first cruise
During March break I went on my first cruise. This was significant because it was also the first time I went on a vacation with more family then just my parents. I went with 2 of my cousins, my aunt and uncle, as well as my parents. We had a lot of fun and I met some really nice people who I still talk to. I got to see some beautiful places such as: Puerto Rico, Princess Cays, St.Thomas and St. marteen. I had a lot of fun on the cruise and it is something I am going to remember forever.
