First Day of Kindergarten
My educational experience began with a home visit from my Kindergarten teacher. Being from a small town, teachers building relationships was an aspect that carried me through to graduation. -
Work Experience
When I was a teenager I got the chance to experience working with children who had multiple exceptionalities. After that I job shadowed my Aunty Heather, the beautiful woman pictured here, and was able to see how she brought happiness into the lives of so many children. This changed my life and made my realize that I could have a career out of something that made me so happy too! -
High School Graduation
I graduated from Spruce View School in June of 2012. Proceeding grad, I decided to take a year off before pursuing post-secondary education to be a teacher. -
Red Deer College
I spent the first two years of my degree learning through Red Deer College. -
Meeting HikingCorry
At a summer job I met the Instagram famous HikingCorry. My best friend is influential in all areas of my life, always supporting me and encouraging me to climb mountains, whether they be real or metaphorical! She's not so bad at social media either ;) -
Supporting Students
The summer of 2014 I got to take two online courses to improve my knowledge on supporting students with exceptionalities. I learned strategies for working with students who identify with ADHD and Anxiety. This was the first time I'd gotten to focus my studies on inclusive education since starting at RDC and reassured me that I was still on track to meeting my career goals! -
Middle Years Program
I was accepted into the Middle Years program in third year of my studies and began my University of Alberta Collaborative Program on September 9th of 2015. All set for Graduation in 2017! -
3rd Year Student Teaching
I completed my third year teaching practicum with Innisfail Middle School. I had wonderful grade 7 students that taught me more in five weeks than I could have thought possible! -
STEP- Stigma Awareness & Prevention
STEP was a program created with a wonderful friend of mine for our Independent Learning Project. This program was a tool kit created for pre-service teachers and a PD session on the topic of reducing the stigmas around mental health. -
Action Research Project
In fourth year I was provided with yet another opportunity to pursue education on a personal passion through school. I conducted an Action Research Project on the topic of traumatized youth and learned about what teachers in Central Alberta are doing to support their students regarding this important issue. -
Graduation
I am set to graduate from the Middle Years Program this April, after completing my fourth year student teaching experience. Thanks for following my journey to it's current present!
