Meeting in Annapolis, Maryland
Six states sent elegates to Maryland in order to figure out how to better regulate international trade. They agreed to meet the next year in Philadelphia to revise The Articles of Confederation. -

Set up a new process to create 5 new states between the Mississippi and Ohio River, acknowledged Native Americans had a claim to this land so they needed to be treated better to avoid violence, outlawed slavery in the 5 new states -
Missouri Compromise
Missouri entered the union as a slave state and Maine was added as a non-slave state to keep an equal balance. It stated that no new state above the 36°30′ line of latitude would be allowed to have slaves (besides Missouri). -

Indian Removal Act of 1830
Under Jackson, it provided funds to relocate Cherokees, Chickasaws, Choctaws, Creek, and Seminole Indians form their homes in the Southeast United States. This act violated treaties with the federal government and the supreme court stated that the Indians had a right to their land and did not have to leave. -

A civil war battle won by the south and Manassus, Virginia. During this battle General Jackson got the nickname Stonewall and the north realized this war was goin to be serious business. -

Civil War battle that ended in a draw. This battle featured a fight between two ironclad warships: USS Monitor and CSS Virginia. -
Final Civil War Battle
This battle which occurred at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia was the final major battle of the civil war. It was won by the north and in it, Lee surrendered to Grant. -
Lusitania sinks
The cruise ship Lusitania which was carrying passengers, guns, and arms, was torpedoed off Ireland's coast by German submarines, killing 124,000 people. -
U.S. intercepts Zimmerman Telegram
The United States intercept the Zimmerman Telegram in which the Geeman foreign secretary promised to help Mexico get back California if they joined Germany in a war on the United States. This is one of the reasons for the United States' entrance in World War I -

The United States declares war on Germany and the other Central Powers. -
Selective Service Act Passed
This act required 24,000,000 men to register for the draft, and eventually increased the size of the U.S. Army from 120,000 people to 5,000,000 people.
