    • The pyramids are heavily religious structures, meant to preserve the bodies of their past kings and help their soul ascend to heaven. They were built while Egypt was a very rich and stable country with their kings being somewhere between human and divine.
    • Without they Pyramids we would be missing out on an entire civilizations religion and culture, that makes our world how it is today and how they got there. It is also a major tourist attraction today.

    • This was a very early and basic system of math. Since numbers did not exist then all units and quantities were depicted as symbols. There is roughly 600 of these symbols exist and are known to us, it is a very complex system and is not entirely understood to us.
    • This is a very important landmark in history because it paved the way for more modern-day math.

    • The Nile is a staple landmark that gave way to one of the largest most technologically advanced nation in the world. It gave life to hundreds is not thousands of people and families. This river is one of the largest rivers that people are most dependent on, especially then.

    • Their number system was the beginning and start of where our modern-day system comes from.

    • The Trojan war was 10 years long waged by Troy and Mycenean Greece. This gave birth to many stories, hero’s, and legends. They were also led to this because of their roots in the activities of their gods.

    • Odyssey is a legend of the trojan war, mainly passed on by bards of different nature, it was declared to be written by Homer a poet. He and odyssey became a staple of Greek culture and history. Without it we would have little insight into what it was like so that we could embrace and celebrate this culture.

    • These Olympic games are ancient and also a heavily religious festival. They were held in Olympia, Greece which is also where the first modern day Olympics were held. For 13 of these the only event they had was a 700 feet long race.
    • The Olympics are a major part of our life and culture and we would not be the world we are today without this major conversion of different nationalities getting together.

    The first Latin literature was a big part of how they made a living back then. There were a lot of talented writers that led to great pieces that we still study today. As well as giving birth to a popular language base that we still use today and have derived all our words from.

    • The Great wall is a massive structure 10,000 li long (li is about 1 third of a mile). This structure was meant as a line of defense to stop the barbarian hordes from invading. This is when it first started building and is still being repaired and preserved to this day.
    • Even though it did not necessarily work as intended it’s still a staple of the Chinese strength and preservation. Without it China might not have been what it is today making it a very important part of our history.

    • The first encyclopedia is Naturalis Historia of Pliny the Elder who was a roman states man. His 37 chapters of work covering natural history, architecture, medicine, geography, geology, and of the world around him. It supposedly had 200,000 facts from 2,000 works by 200 authors.
    • This is very similar to how we study the world and are taught about the world.

    • The colosseum was actually a gift to the romans, from Emperor Vespasian of the Flavian dynasty. This created a bond between the people and helped the roman people after a great fire. It was an amphitheater used for gladiator fights that would entertain massive amounts of people.
    • This is now a symbol of power and majesty of the emperor, Rome and Roman society. It gives us an insight into how things were and what their culture was like.
