The Berlin Conference was an event held in Berlin to divide the countries of Africa between Europe. 14 states were present for the conference. The top participants were Germany, Portugal, and Great Britain because they had owned land in Africa prior. -

Apartheid
Apartheid in South Africa was the unfair racial segregaion dominant by the white government. This period lasted from 1948 to 1994. Apartheid condtions varied from non-whites needing special paperwork to even stay in communities to denying non-white participation in governmental affairs. Rebellion against apartheid has resulted against harsh violence, from bullets to tear gas. -

Darfur Genocide Starts
The Darfur Genocide is the mass killing, raping and slaughter of Darfuri men, women and children. It has been held out by an Arab group known as the Janjaweed (devils on horseback, loosely.) It was caused by the idea that the Darfuri caused the famine in Darfur, and the Janjaweed are punishing them for it. -
