    IBM introduces PC personal computer
    The PC was developed by IBM. It helped launched heavy us in businesses and was imitated by other companies. This helped other companies to create their competition and has lead to what we use now.
  • First compact discs released

    First compact discs released
    This was developed by Philips and Sony. It first came out and branded as a Digital Audio Compact Disc. The disc was able to store more data, was rewritable and interchangeable with what it could hold. This introduced new ways on how we watch movies, listen to music and store information.
  • Apple Macintosh

    Apple Macintosh
    Jef Raskin, Smith, Bud Tribble and Steve Jobs were the key designers. This is is the first successful mass-market personal computer to have featured a graphical user interface, built-in screen, and mouse. The advertisement for the product was also a game changer. This lead how computers were manufactured but also a foundation for Apple to be where it is today.
  • Flash Memory

    Flash Memory
    Fujio Masuoka invented flash memory while working for Toshiba. This allowed memory to be erased and reprogrammed multiple times in blocks. Technology before allowed some of these functions but all memory had to be erased. Flash memory is used in computers, PDAs, digital audio players, digital cameras, mobile phones and video games.
  • Nintendo Gameboy

    Nintendo Gameboy
    This was developed and manufactured by Nintendo. This product introduced a new product and wave of a gaming device that is handheld. It gave opportunities with on the go entertainment and would later lead to multiple versions to be released.
