During the great compromise the state of Missouri was made a slave state, but the rest of the land from the Louisiana Purchase north of the 36th parallel line where prohibited to have slavery. -
1836 the Texas Rebellion
The colonists along with the Tejanos that were living in Texas put up arms against the centralist government of Mexico. The people of Texas won and then created the Republic of Texas. -
1848 The Mexican-American war
Mexico was angry that Texas had joined with the United states. Then the US and Mexico debated on where the boundary of Texas was. So a war was fought between the two to decide this. The war ended with the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
