Europeans went west to try and find Asia to help with trade as going on foot was too long, the Medditeranian was controlled by Italy, and the Sea route around Africa took too long. But Europeans had not planned for Earth to be so large. -

Without Columbus, we would not have found america so soon....We would have found it, yes but not as soon! Also, Columbus was searching for the northern passage but didn't think that there was a continent called America in the way. Which was (America) named after Amerigo Vespucci. -

European Nations Start to Claim land in the Americas
This will be very important later. Land will cause tensions and lead to war which will give colonists more room. It will also give more wealth for different countries in exports and such. -
First colony Founded(Roanoke)
If Roanoke had not been founded and failed then Euorpeans would not have known what to do when they got to the really hard or tough points on the mainland. It was a learn from your mistakes moment that Europeans decided to not let get away. -
Slavery firmly established in North America
At first slavery was with Native Americans in the West Indies. The Spanish used them for their haciendas, or farms. Slavery then changed to African Americans; for they were more "durable". Slaves then opened up a large trade, as they came from Africa. Slaves were very important because they grew the food for colonists, built their boats, and cost enough to get different products. They were the biggest point of wealth in America. -
Henry Hudson Lands in New York
Henry Hudson was a very important figure in American history. Because Hudson had found a new area and all of its niceties, and then relayed it in Europe, the rulers in the European countries sent more explorers to live in America. -
Europeans come to North America looking for religious freedom
As times in Europe were getting harder and people were being persercuted for religious reasons, some religious groups came over to America. Some of these groups were tousands of people large. This added diversity and population to the colonies and helped exploration even more. -
Colonists force Natives out - leads to King Phillips War
The King Philip's War was where natives were being forced out of their land. They did not like this so a war broke out. The natives lost and those of them who did not die were sold into slavery. The colonists land expanded. -
Population Reaches over 250 thousand - forces more natives out
This showed that America's "Business" was booming. People were coming over for a better life, trade was working out, and reproducing was possible. As the population was growing so was the need for more land, resources, and jobs. So life in America had to upgrade. -
The Enligtenment and Great Awakening
The Great Awakening is when people started to stress religious emotion instead of following a book. The Enlightenment stressed not religion but science and reasoning. These helped people think and explore within themselves to come up with things such as electricity, lightning rods, stoves, and bifocal glasses. -
Stono Rebellion
Roughly twenty slaves rebelled against their "owners" and other slave owners.They met at the Stono River (Hence the name Stono) and, carrying weapons, they killed several planter families. The slaves did this in reaction to the loss of their freedom. -
American colonie's population reaches up to 1 million
This shows another advancement in America's society. The population has increased to four times its past size in only fifty years. Yet again, more land, resources, and jobs. -
French and Indian war begins/ends
This war was very important. Britain captured the capital of New France, Quebec, and then told the French what they wanted. They got all of the land east of the Mississippi River. The French got the land west. Theis ended French power in America. -
Proclamation of 1763
THe Proclamation of 1763 seems to have started the itch of a war with Britain. This angered the colonists because it states that the colonists are not to settle farther west than the Appalachian mountains. The colonists disagreed with this because they felt that they had fought for the right to live there. -
Acts passed and Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre proved how brutal the British were to the Americans. Yes, we were throwing rocks and snowballs, but nothing to get shot over, right? -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was a very big deal to the Revolutionary War. It shows how the colonists will do anything to get what they think is the best for all of the colonies. This was a very disrespectful thing that the colonists did to Britain. Freedom, right? -
Battles of Lexington and Concord
These battles initiated the Revolutionary War. It also persuaded delagates in the Congress to sign The Declaration of Independance. Which was a HUGE step towards independance. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was a document that declared independance for america. Even though It didn't make us an independant nation, it meant that we said 'SCREW YOU ENGLAND!!!!!' That, was a succesful day. -
Battles of Saratoga
The Battles of Saratoga were important because it showed the rest of the world that we had a chance against England. Then, other European countries, such as France and Spain, came to the Patriots' aid. -
Americans Defeat British at Yorktown
At this battle, we ensured an American victory.We made sure to tell Britain that we could not be detained. After that there was only one thing stopping America from being independant.... -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris ended the Revolutionary War. It was important because there was nothing keeping America from being independent.
