  • Genetics

    My parents had come to find out that I had sickle cell shortly after my birth through screening. (Sec 2)

    I was a very social infant I wanted to touch everything and get used to the surroundings. (Sec 4)

    I was easily irritated a an infant cried in distress .Which is what infants turn to in order to gain attention. (Sec 4.7)

    I was born! I was born only one day late and my mom had a healthy vaginal birth. (Sec 3.3)
  • First Steps

    Around 11 months I had began to walk. I walked as if I were waddling and my head was too big for my body. This is common for toddlers when they first start walking, they often have unsteady, wide-stance steps.

    As a baby my family says that I was easily irritated, and that I was a difficult baby that did not adapt well to new situations. (Sec 4.7)

    Both of my parents were worried that I was protein deficient since I was small for a 2 year old. (Sec. 5.1)

    Gender

    I had trouble understanding the difference between the gender identities, I would often play with "boy toys" or play "too rough" for a girl. This was quite odd since in early childhood, gender issues intensify. (Sec 6.7)

    Speech

    I was put into a speech class because I had an underdeveloped vocabulary for my age and from the ages of 5-7 it is a very important time because children’s vocabulary expands more since they pick up new words not just from conversations but also from books, movies and television. (Sec 7.4)

    I was given the daily task of chores and with that I was monitored less. My parents provided broad guidelines that allowed for me to have a substantial amount of independent, self-directed behavior. (Sec. 7.7)
  • Religion

    At the age of 12 I wanted to be baptized since my entire life I had teachings of the bible and I felt like I had the greatest understanding of religion. (Sec 8.6)
  • Big move

    I moved to Virginia in the beginning of middle school, which was a change of pace and changed the way that I had seen people and the world.
  • Algebra

    In 8th grade my parents put me in a 9th grade math class to with thoughts of me obtaining skill that s are necessary for success. (Sec 8.4)

    Puberty

    I began to hit puberty, I saw changes in my body. I began to get grow breasts, become hairy, and grew a couple of inches. (Sec. 8.1)
  • Moving

    I moved to Texas in the beginning of high school and faced a great amount of sadness due to the fact that is was halfway across the country
  • Ideal self

    I began to realize who I wanted to be and that was to be a doctor, I felt like this was the best possible choice for me.
  • Risky

    I began to partake in risky behaviors. Such as staying out late with my friends in strange towns or going on crazy adventures. It was the freedom of not having parents monitoring me that gave me more of a reason to participate in such activities. ( Sec 9)
  • Politics

    I had begun to view the world differently and developed my own political beliefs. This has helped me form a sense of identity. (Sec 9.7)
