  • Navigation Acts

    Navigation Acts
    Purpose: directed the trade between England and the Colonies. Outcome:Colonies had tp go through England. They made there own goods and sold them at higer prices. Also they smuggled
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    Purpose: It set the Appalachian Mtns. as a temporary western boundry for the colonies.
    Outcome: people couldn't have there land that they already owned It made them angry when Britain ignored thre land claims.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    purpose: lowered the tax of sugar hoping the colists would actually pay taxes and let officers seize goods from smugglers Outcome: colonist believed the British actions violated there rights as English citizens and right of a jury trial.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    purpose: Placed a tax on almost all printed material. All printed material had to have a stamp.
    Outcome: It interfered in colonial affairs by taxing them directly. Also taxed the colonies without there consent. The colonies started a boycott and riots.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    Purpose: Stated that parliament had the right to tax and make decisions for the british colonies "in all cases" Outcome: Colonists ignored but still didn't like.
  • Townshed Acts

    Townshed Acts
    Purpose: new taxes would apply only to imported goods (glass, paper, tea) with the tax paid at the port of entry. Outcome: At that point any tax angered the colonists. They believed ony there own representatives could tax them. They formed groups and wore homemade fabric, and
    made/produce other goods.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    Purpose: allowed the British East India Company a virtual monopoly, or sole control of the trade for tea in America. Let the company sell tea directly to shopkeepers & by pass colonial merchants who normally distributed the tea Outcome: The colonists boycotted, stop the company's ships from unloading. They say rather than part with freedom "we'll part with our tea. Also this act led to the Boston Tea Party.
  • Coercive Acts (Intolerable Acts)

    Coercive Acts (Intolerable Acts)
    Purpose: Harsh laws were intened to punish the people of massachusetts for their resistance. Closed Boston Harbor until the Massachusetts paid for the ruined tea. Also took away some rights.
    Outcome: Colonies sent food and clothing to support Boston. They thought it violeted there rights as English citizens.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    Purpose: set up a government for Quebec. Gave Quebec the area west of the Appalachians and north of the Ohio River. Outcome: This act ignored the colonial claims to the area. Colonists expressed their feelings in their name for the new laws.
