    Pearl Harbor was a Naval base that got attacked by Japan, which caused US to join the war.

    This was the first battle by US after Pearl Harbor. It was against the Japanese which had planned as their own ambush, resulting in an immediate shift in the balance of sea power in the Pacific. Japan lost with 2,500 casualties
  • Allied invasion of Italy

    Allied invasion of Italy
    The allied powers decided to knock down Germany for the final time by invading Italy. It was a success because it gave the Allies complete control of the western Mediterranean, paved the way for an invasion of Italy, and ended the rule of Mussolini.
  • D-Day (Normandy Invasion)

    D-Day (Normandy Invasion)
    Allied forces launched a combined naval, air and land assault on Nazi-occupied France. It was the largest planned invasion. resulted in the Allies capturing the French port of Cherbourg.

    Hiter wanted to send a suprise invasion to split the Allies in half. The Germans failed and ended in 100,000 casualties. It brought about the end of the German army and the Nazi reign

    The American army took over Iwo Jima of the Japenese. The allies needed a base near the Japanese coast. The American army won even though it ended with 5,900 dead and 17,400 wounded.

    VE Day
    This is the day US and Great Britan celebrate the victory over Europe. It was the day Germany surrendered. The war was over on this day.

    Dropping of the atomic bombs
    Japan did not surrender yet, so America had to take action. The American army dropped a 5 ton bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. And after they did not surrender they dropped a second one on Nagasaki. This caused Japan to surrender. 146,000 people died because of the atomic bomb.

    This is the Victory of Japan day. This was caused by America dropping 2 atomic bombs on Japan. Japan could not defend itself.

    All the German concentration camps to hold Jews have been liberated. Over 7 million people died in the camps. Most were very skinny, and in desperate need of food and water.
