    Germany bombarded Poland from the land and air, this was to show off the blitzkrieg technique. Britain responded with bombing raids over Germany 3 days later.

    Surrender of the Bataan Peninsula on the main Philippine island of Luzon to the Japanese. The day after Pearl harbor, the Japanese began their invasion of the Philippines. This effected the war because approximately 75,000 Filipino and American troops were taken to prison camps.
