    The German Blitzkrieg (German Lighting War) was a military tactic created to shock and disorganize the enemy. German used this tactic between 1939-1941 and quickly overran many smaller countries in Europe growing their empire.   • Fall of Paris

    Fall of Paris
    German troops attacked France at the beginning of 1940. The French army was no match for Germany and by mid-1940 Paris, Frances's last stronghold, had fallen to Germany after the fleeing of the France government. Germany had complete control over France and the reign over Europe had now grown to a Great area.

    Was a code name for the plan of Germany to invade the Soviet Union. The plan failed as the Germany troops weren't fully prepared for the treacherous weather condition that would come later on I the year. Many believed this was a turning point in the war as the German army lot many troops and resources.

    Pearl Harbor
    The attack on Pearl Harbour by the Japanese forced the United States into entering World War 2. The Japanese destroyed many U.S ships and soldiers. The war had been going on for 2 years in Europe and Asia. This attack led to the United States declaring war on Japan which would later lead to Japan's allies declaring war on the United States.

    Battle of Stalingrad
    Was a military campaign between the Soviet Union and German forces during the Second Wolrd War. Stalingrad was one of Russia's most industrialized cities and that being destroyed really hurt the Soviet Union's economy. This was another key contributor and turning point for the war in favour of the allied forces.

  • Wannsee Conference

    Wannsee Conference
    The Wannsee conference was the turning point on the Nazi policy towards Jewish people. The plan to send all Jews to Africa and Madagascar was replaced by rounding up all Jewish people within Europe and moving them eastward. They would be put into labour camps and work for the German war effort. These labour camps would eventually evolve into the famous concentration camps that World War 2 is remembered for.

    The battle of midway was intense naval battle between the United States and Japan. This battle was 6 months after the attack on the pearly harbour and 1 month after the attack of the Coral Sea. The United States code breakers played a critical role in defeating the Japanese navy.

    The allied forces landed in mainland Italy during the early stages of Italy's WW2 effort. They were successfully able to take control over the island of sicilly. Other attack were placed throughout the island the German forces fought back but were later driven out o Italy and forced back further into mainlnd Europe to fight the rest of WW2.

    The battle on Normany was the British and Canadian soldier attempting to slow the down fastly, conquering Germans. The weather on D-Day played a huge role and the Germans couldn't see the Invading ships as early as they usually could. The win for the British meant the German soldier begn to drive back inland and the battle to retke franc efrom the Germns had begun.

    Battle of the Bulge
    The battle of the bulge was one of Germanys' greatest offensive planning on pushing the allied forces away from France to Belgium. It is recognized as one of there greatest battles in WW2. Small groups of United States soldiers were able to hold off the German forces until reinforcements could come and the Germans losing this battle all but sealed Hitlers fate in the Second World War.

    The battle of Iwo Jima was fought between the U.S marine corps and the Imperial Japanese army. The United States Army captured the island of Iwo Jima (hence the name of the battle). The advantages of having this island were tremendous as the U.S was able to bombard the Japanese naval ships slowing their capabilities.

    VE Day was the unconditional surrendering of Nazi Germany to the allied forces. The German army had been defeated and surrendered therefor ending WW2 in Europe. Ve Day was a celebration to the end of the Raging war in Europe that so many people died too

    Dropping of the Atomic Bombs
    An American B-29 bomber dropped the world's first atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The explosion alone destroyed 90 percent of the city. Many died because of the explosion and many died after because of the radiation. 3 days later a second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki killing an estimated 40,000 people. The effects of the radiation would last years and spread throughout the surrounding areas.

    The liberation of concentration camps was the storying of the lasting nazi regime. These killing centers had been discovered by the soviet and allied forces. The prisoners within the camps were starving if they were lucky to be alive. The liberation of the camps gave these survivors there lives back and they were soon filled with the hope of being able to start their new lives.
