Operation Barbarossa
Code name for Nazi German's invasion of the Soviet Union. Hitler attempts to take over Soviet territory, but when winter season enters Germans are weakened and Russia attacks back and wins. This cripples Germany and causes Russia to go to war against them.

The Japanese military ambush or surprise attack the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. -
Wannsee Conference
Nazi officials have a conference to discuss about the "Final Solution" for the Jews and other non Germans. They plan for transporting all Jews all over Europe to concentration camps and having them work to their death. Also come up with "gas vans" to exterminate large groups.

Operation Thunderclap
Code for a cancelled mission that was never implemented. The plan was a massive attack on Berlin that would cause 220,000 casualties with 110,000 killed which would lower German morale.

Battle of the Bulge
Last major German offensive campaign of WWII in an attempt to push the Allies to northwestern Belgium. Called battle of the bulge because Germans created a bulge area around the Ardennes forest.

Battle of Iwo Jima
The United States needed another island so their B-29 bombers can land without returning back to the Marianas, and a base for escort fighters that would assist in their bombing missions/plans. Iwa Jima was defended around 23,000 Japanese Army and Navy troops.

The last and biggest island of Pacific battles of WWII. It involved 287,000 troops of the U.S. against 130,000 Japanese soldiers. Largest casualties with over 100,000 Japanese casualties and 50,000 Americans casualties.

VE Day
Also known as "Victory in Europe Day". Is the day when the allied powers defeated Nazi Germany and ended WWII in Europe. Russia celebrates VE day on the 9th because the Germans officially surrendered on the 9th than the 8th.

Dropping of the atomic bomb
The American B-29 bomber dropped the atomic bomb over Hiroshima. This explosion killed 80,000 people immediately more would die later due to radiation. Three days later another B-29 would drop another Atomic bomb on Nagasaki, killing around 40,000 people. Emperor Hirohito would Surrender on August 15 due to the power of the bomb.
