Japan wanted to expand its influence to the Chinese territory but china was against it. So, Japan wanted to remove ,Chiang kai-shek, from the nationalist government by taking control of arge areas of eastern China in 1937. So china asked Britain, France, and United States for help.Japan dropped many bombs by air forces into the city which killed a lot of Chinese people which lead to 10 to 20 million deaths in china.

Aug 23rd, 1939, Ribbentop/Molotov Pact (Nazi-Soviet pact)
the Nazi-Soviet nonaggression act was signed on August 23 1939. this pact stated that during the war they cannot fight each other also they must split Poland and other European countries in half.This pact made Britain and France stressed. It led to the ruining of Poland, but later hitler violated the pact.

hitler wanted to expand all the german speaking countries, so what he did was invade Austria and Czechoslovakia.he later invaded Poland on September 1, 1939, hoping that it would be tolerated and unite all the german speaking countries.France and Britain didn't believe that it was a defensive attack so they got involved by starting war with Germany resulting in World War 2.

Sep 1st, 1939, German Blitzkrieg (1939-1940)
A blitzkrieg is a german military tactic that the german used which is a surprise attack leaving the other side surprised and unprepared for the war.Blitzkrieg means lightning war in german. it was a way to get the invaders to act quickly. its purpose was to create panic and disruption on the opposing team. Jun 14th, 1940, Fall of Paris
German troops entered and took over paris on Jun 14, 1940. Most of the people in paris already had fleeced before the tanks even arrived making the invasion easier on Germany. The German Gestapo arrested, interrogated, and spied.Hitler wanted to put shame to the French and wanted to average the German defeat. At the end the French army separated.

Jun 22nd, 1941, Operation Barbarossa
On June 22,1941 Germany invaded the Soviet Union.This was the largest action in WW2. Germanys goal was to attack Communists and Jews of the Union to be able to conquer the Ural mountains. their was heaving bombing but the Soviets were able to handle it. When winter came the german army was un prepared for the cold which was a turning point for Stalin. Russia was able to defeat them and then later attacked Germany from both sides.

Dec 7th, 1941, Pearl Harbor
On Dec 7, 1941 japan attacked the pearl harbor by sending planes because the US stopped trading with japan their for japan attacked them. They destroyed about 20 ships, killed about 2,000 American solders, and left about 1,00 injured. the day after the attack President Roosevelt decided to start war with Japan. Japan allies declare war on the Unites States, which meant the US joined WW2.

Jun 3rd, 1942, Battle of Midway
Japan wanted to seize Midway island and its base so they started a battle on Jun 3, 1942. Isoroku sent aircrafts to gain and destroy the US fleets and invade Midway. The US was able to break the Japanese Naval code which meant they were ready for the battle.This battle put an end to the threat the pacific had from japan and made it the turning point of the military struggle between the two countries.

Germany bombed Stalingrad on Jul 17, 1942 which became the bloodiest battle for the Russian people.It combined military and civilian causalities of nearly 2 million. The attack was part of Hitlers plan in taking over the Soviet Union.He was unable to capture Stalingrad because of Russia's strong Russian resistance. It was turning point for the Allies because it stopped the german into the Union.

On Dec 28th, 1942 was the day President Roosevelt approved to authorization of the Manhattan Project which was a research project to make the first atomic bombs.The US knew that Germany was trying to built an atomic bomb and warned that hitler would use it as a defense. This project put and end to WW2, whited forced japan to surrender. it also allowed other countries to make more powerful bombs.

Jul 24th, 1943, Operation Gomorrah
On July 24, 1943 Britain sends bombs on Hamburg, Germany. After Britain lost 167 civilians from the German bombing it was time for Britain to get their revenge. the attack continued till November of that year.when the war finished 9,000 tons of explosives were dropped, killing 30,00 people, and destroying 280,000 buildings. Hitler thought that would end the war.

Sep 3rd, 1943, Allied invasion of Italy
Sep 3, 1943 the british army began the allied invasion on Italy but the government of Italy surrendered to the allies and made an agreement saying that they wouldn't harm them if Italy helps the allies remove the german people that were in Italy.Later that month after Mussolini was rescued, he became the leader of the nazi state in Italy.June 1944, Rome fell which opened a chance to help the USSR.

Jun 6th, 1944, D-Day (Normandy's Invasion)
June6,1944 was the day the allied power landed into the beaches of Normandy which became the start of the liberation on the Western Europe from the Nazi control. Allies knew the key to winning would be to invade the continents since hitler was in control. By the end of the day, 155,000 allied troops made it to the beaches safely.D-Day was the beginning to the end of Germany and Hitler. It forced them to fight a 2 front war but Germany was unable .

this was the biggest battle fought in the Western Front in Europe from December 16,1944- January 16, 1945. Germany launched the last major wounding of the war. He wanted to move the allied front line west from the Northern France to Northwest Belgium.hitlers plan was to force through the allied armies into the ardennes region to capture Antwerp. But allies were unprepared resulting in a large lump created in the allied line.

Allies were discussing on weather they should bomb Eastern cites of Germany.The allies wanted to stop transport infrastructure behind Eastern front. Feb 19th, 1945, Battle of Iwo Jima
Americans solders strikes Japaneses home island at Iwo Jima. US's Mission was to capture the Japanese airfield.It was a need to find a place where they could place B-29 bombers which would damage over japan without returning to the Marianas.There were 20,000 Japanese against 110,000 Americans. Japanese fought with a lot a different tactics but the US was still able to capture the Iwo Jima.

Apr 1st, 1945, Battle of Okinawa
On Apr 1st, 1945 allied forces invades the island of Okinawa which became the bloodiest battle of the Pacific War. It was all part of the allies plan to invade japan. 2 days after they landed they faced a powerful Japanese resistance. The bombing and shelling were very intense. After 82 days of war japan finally surrendered and the allied forces had taken over Okinawa.

Victory in Europe Day is celebrated for The US and Britain which is on May 8, 1945 celebrating the defeat of the Nazi armed forces. They released prisoners and sent them back home.They were so thankful they started dancing and had parties in the streets.But this waasnt the end of the impact of the war on the people. They were still fighting with Japan. the war ended after Japan and Germany surrendered.

Aug 6th, 1945, Dropping of the atomic bombs
Augest 1945 2 atomic bombs were dropped by the US first one on Hiroshima (aug 6) and the other on Nagasaki (aug 9). the first bomb on Hiroshima damaged 90% of the city and killed 80,000 people. the second bomb was on Nagasaki 3 days later and killed 40,000 people. On august 14 the emperor of Japan said that they surrender.

Aug 14th, 1945, VJ Day
On August 14, 1945, Japan announces that it is surrendering to the allies, which ended WW2. August 14 and 15 are known as “ Victory Over Japan Day”. People across the US started celebrating marking it as the end of WW2.
