    Japanese Invasion of China
    The Japanese invaded China with intentions of expanding their territory. China resisted and took matters in its own hands. This triggered the Second Sino-Japanese war. The Japanese surrendered and the Chinese won the war.
  • German Blitzkrieg

    German Blitzkrieg
    Blitzkrieg was a type of warfare used that concentrated on a single target. The idea was that focusing on one target was more effective then dividing the damage. The Germans in WW1 didn’t have modern technology. In WW2, with modern advancements such as aircraft motor vehicles, tanks, and radios.
  • Fall of Paris

    Fall of Paris
    Germany invaded Paris with 2 million of people living there having already fled. Germany invaded using tanks. The Germans were spying, arresting people, and interrogating people almost immediately. The people who didn't flee were trapped. Germany successfully took over Paris.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    Operation Barbarossa is when Hitler sent his army eastward to the Soviet Union. He had over 3 million troops and 3,000 tanks. The Germans underestimated the power of the Soviet Union. They ended up falling and the Germans lost.
  • Attacks on Pearl Harbor

    Attacks on Pearl Harbor
    The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise attack by the Japanese on the US Naval Base in Hawaii. Japan decided to attack Pearl Harbor, to surprise the US navy, as they knew war was coming. America was holding out on joining the war. They didn’t want to be apart of it. After the attacks on Pearl Harbor, they decided to join the war, bombing Japan.
  • Wannsee Conference

    Wannsee Conference
    The Wannsee conference was a meeting of Germans to discuss Jews. They wanted to kill jews. Some of whom lived in Germany, some did not. They were originally only killing 1000 people per day. They ended up creating concentration camps. Millions of Jews were placed in these concentration camps and died.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    The Battle of Stalingrad was a battle between the Soviet Union, the Axis Powers, and the Nazis. It is known as the bloodiest and longest battle. The battle was on Russian grounds, so there was a long winter. This was a disadvantage for the Germans because they weren't used to it/expecting it. The Russians won and they still celebrate it today.
  • D-Day/ Normandy

    D-Day/ Normandy
    D-day was then American, British, and Canadian troops deployed on Normandy. The battle fought was one of the largest in history. It began on June 6,1944(D-day). The battle lasted until August of 1944. Afterwards, Nazi control of Western Europe was ended.
  • VE Day

    VE Day
    VE day is called “Victory in Europe Day”. This day is the day the Allies announced the surrender of Germany. The German people surrendered one day before the Allies announced it. The end of the war created celebration around the world.
  • The Dropping of The Atomic Bombs on Japan

    The Dropping of The Atomic Bombs on Japan
    America dropped the world's first atomic bomb over Hiroshima, Japan. Immediately, over 80,000 people were killed. 90% of the Hiroshima was destroyed. They then dropped another bomb on Nagasaki and killed another 40,000 people. Emperor Hirohito of Japan called it “a new and most cruel bomb”. He then announced an unconditional surrender.
  • Liberation of concentration camps

    Liberation of concentration camps
    The Allies wanted to free all of the concentration camps. While they did this, the Nazi’s moved people on foot hundreds of miles, most dying of starvation or due to the cold. Some people got moved by trains however, most didn't. The first camp liberated was near Lublin, Poland. Only a few prisoners remained at the end of the liberation.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    The Battle of the Bulge was the Germans attempted to push the allies out of France and into Belgium. German soldiers would disguise themselves as Americans to create sabotage. This caused suspicion and craziness among everyone. During the three weeks of battle, a lot of deaths were apparent. The US suffered by having the second surrender of troops.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    The Battle of Iwo Jima was a military campaign between the US and Japan. The US military invaded the island of Iwo Jima. A battle resulted, that lasted for five weeks. Iwo Jima’s beaches were covered in gray volcanic ash, which made running difficult. Iwo Jima was eventually taken by American soldiers after the surrender of hideout Japanese soldiers.
