    Operation Barbarossa had over 3 million German soldiers, it was the crucial turning point in WW2, they underestimated there opponent, Russia, so there finest arm invaded Russia. The failure of the fight forced Nazi Germany to fight a two-front war against coalition. This was the German Invasion of the Soviet Union.

  • The Japan-China war (Second Sino-Japanese War)

    The Japan-China war (Second Sino-Japanese War)
    Followed after the first Sino-Japanese War, Japan claiming they were fired on by Chinese troops, launching a full invasion in China. War was caused by decades long Japanese imperialist policy, aimed to expand its influence politically and militarily to secure access to raw materials and other economic resources in China. The effects led Japan to bomb Pearl Harbor, leading to the Pacific War.

  • Rape of Nanking

    Rape of Nanking
    Japanese Imperial Army marched into China's capital city of Nanking and proceeded to murder 300,000 out of 600,000 civilians and soldiers in the city. This was a result due to Japan being fearful of losing to China in battle. Japans nationalist leader Chiang ordered the removal of nearly all official Chinese troops from the city, leaving it defended by untrained troops. The effects of the event were horrifying leaving China in ruins.

    The blitzkrieg was a military tactic to create disorganization among enemy forces through the use of mobil forces and locally concentrated firepower. This resulted in short military campaigns, which presered human lives and limited the expenditure of artillery. This helped overrun Poland, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Beligum, Luxembourg, and France in a matter of months.

  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    Japan launced a surprise attack with hundreds of Japanese fighter planes on American naval base at Pearl Harbor, near Honolulu, Hawaii. American officials were unhappy with Japans increasingly belligerent attitude towards China, so they created economic sanctions and trade embargoess on Japan, making the Japanese more determined to stand their ground leading to the attack on Pearl Harbor. This resulted in the U.S declaring war on Japan, and two years later the U.S joined WWII.

  • Wannsee Conference

    Wannsee Conference
    The Wannsee Conference was a Nazi meeting that settled the "Jewish question" by making genocide official German policy. Germany Met with 15 others.
    In liberation camps they found the "gas vans" which killed 1000 at a time were the best way to kill large groups of people at a time. The goal was to take all Jews to concentration camps, and anyone who survived hard working conditions would be "treated accordingly".

  • Battle of Midway

    Battle of Midway
    The most decisive battle of World War II, the United States effectively destroyed Japans naval strength, by destroying four of its aircraft carriers. Japan had a plan to ambush the aircraft carriers that escaped during pearl harbor, due to major advances in code breaking the United States was able to preempt Japans plan, turning their plan onto themselves. This resulted in permanent damage on the Japanese Navy, being a the turning point in the Pacific, allowing America to ride striaght to Tokyo.

    Warsaw Ghetto uprising
    Germa nazis sent in SS forces and collaborators with tanks and heavy artillery destroying Warsaw ghetto, and blowing up Warsaw’s Great Synagogue. This was caused when some of the Jews staged an armed revolt against deportations to extermination camps, making conflict worse between the Jews and Nazis. The result of the uprising was 7,000 Jews death, the other nearly 50,000 who survived were sent to extermination or labor camps.

    Operation Gomorrah
    British and American military made an alliance creating an aerial bombing campaign against Hamburg, Germany, with Britians bombing by night, while Americans bomb it by day. This was caused by Harris' who believed that a devastating attack on a symbolic target would push the Nazis into seeking a peace deal. This resulted in 30,000 deaths, effecting the Nazi government, which made Hitler not want to return.

    D-Day (Normandy Invasion)
    156,000 American, British and Canadian forces landed on five beaches of the heavily fortified coast of France’s Normandy region, creating one of the largest amphibious military assaults in history. This was driven by the allies in which conducted a large-scale deception campaign misleading the Germans about the intended invasion target. The result of the invasion was a success leading to the allies defeating the Germans, later Hitler then committed sucide.

    Soviet so were the first to liberate concentration camps prisoners at the end of the war. Auschwitz, the largest killing center and concentration camp but
    Soviets liberated other camps in the Baltic states an in Poland. Liberators confronted unspeakable conditions in the Nazi camps, where piles of corpses lay unburied, Some 60,000 prisoners. These prisoners were suffering from starvation and disease, the Germans attempted to hide the evidence of mass murder by demolishing the camp.
