    1.5 million German troops invaded Poland. They destroyed airfields and naval forces of the Polish. Hitler believed the invasion would create livinb space for his people. The effects of the invasion was that Germany took over Poland and proved the excellence of Germany's military.

    The Germans invaded France. The fall happened because the German's needed more territory. The effects were that it led to the fall of the French Republic.

    Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in a surprise attack on a Sunday morning of December 7. The attacked Hawaii to neutralize the U.S. The effects of Pearl Harbor was that they learned to not keep all ships in one Harbor and we also attacked Japan following the attack. It plunged us into WW2.

    It was a naval and air battle in which planes from American aircraft carriers blunted the Japanese. It happened because of Pearl Harbor. Japan lost carriers, a cruiser, and 292 aircraft and suffered 2,500 casualties.

    Allied forces invaded Northern France and won. They were there to liberate Europe from Nazi control. The effects of D-Day was the beginning of the end of the war for Europe.

    The U.S. Marines landed on and eventually captured the island from the Japanese. We attacked Iwo Jima because we needed air stips for our bombers to bomb Japan. 26,000 American casualties was an effect of this battle.

    The allies invaded the island of Okinawa and bombed it. We needed the base to prepare for the planned invasion of Japan. It resulted in 100,000 Japanese causualties and 50,000 allie casualties.

    Germany's armed forces surrendered and it was victory in Europe Day. Hitler commited suicide is why this holiday and day was remembered. The effect was that it was the end of the war in Europe.

    An American bomber dropped a five-ton bomb on Hiroshima. It happened because the Japanese warned the Americans that if we tried to invade Japan, many Americans would die. The bomb was used to speed up the end of the war. The effect was that it killed thousands of people and gave cancer or mental illnesses to the ones who survived.

    VJ Day was the ending of World War 2 and sparked celebrations. It happened because the Japanese surrendered. It has become a National Holiday.
