Many Ghettos were established during ww2. During this time, Himmler sent forces to capture jews and keep them in these Ghettos. Around 7,000 jews perished while 50,000 were sent to labor and extermination camps. -

The U.S defeated on Japan. The U.S was able to counter attack Japan's ambush which gave the allies an advantage. -
Normandy Invasion (D-day)
Battle where 156,000 British, American, and Canadian troops landed on five different beaches along Normandy. The invasion resulted in all of Northern France being liberated. There was a large campaign designed to deceive the Germans about the location of the target which worked. This was considered the beginning of the end of the war. -
Battle of the Bulge
The Battle of the Bulge was a surprise blitzkrieg attack by the Germans on Ardennes. The battle helped the allied forces but had many casualties. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
Battle that took place at the island of Iwo Jima 750 miles off the coast of Japan. The U.S thought it would be able to take over easily but ended up taking a little over a month to win. Over 21,000 japanese and 7,000 U.S soldiers were killed. -

Day when U.S and Great Britain celebrate the defeat of the Nazi war machine. -
Dropping of the atomic bombs
U.S and Germany were in a race to create the first atomic weapon. Germany was already defeated resulting in the U.S using the weapon to stop Japan and end the war. Two five ton bombs were dropped over Hiroshima and Nagasaki and caused Japan to surrender. -
