Allies and Triple Alliance
The main side were the Allies, and included France, Great Britain and Russia, Germany and Austria-Hungary. Total, 30 countries were involved in the war. Italy, once part of the Triple Alliance with Germany and Austria-Hungary, fought on the side of the Allies. -
When WW1 started and the cause.
World war 1 began on July 28, 1914 and lasted until November 11, 1918. Differences in foreign countries were to blame, although the spark was the assassination of The Archduke Ferdinand. -
Trenches
Soldiers fought in trenches during the war, and thousands suffered from stress, known as shell-shock. The British and French trenches were very unappealing, where as the German trenches were luxurious in comparison, with bunks and cooking facilities. -
Germany and Russia
Germany declares war on Russia. On the same day France orders a general mobilization. -
Germany
The United Kingdom declars war on Germany, after Germany invades Belgium. German military operations in Belgium were intended to bring the 1st, 2nd and 3rd armies to alliences with Belgium, so they could invade France, which led to blockade of Belgian armies along the Meuse river at Namur, after the fall of Liège on 7th of August and the surrender on 16-17 August. -

The Battle of the Marne begins. Trench warfare begins as soldiers on both sides dig. -
Germany
Germany announced warfare against all ships, neutral or otherwise, that entered the war zone around Britain. One month later, Germany announced that it had sunk the William P. Frye, a private American ship that was transporting grain to England when it disappeared.
