    Franz Ferinand was the arch duke of Austria-Hungary. After enraging many countries he was assassinated by Gavrilo Princp. This was the start of the first world war

    After their Duke was assassinated, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia.This started the world war because both sides had many allies. These allies then began declaring war on each other.

    Quickly after the war had started Germany decided to declare war on both France and Russia. The idea was to defeat the French before Russia would be ready to come and help, which didn't happen. As a result of Germany declaring war on other countries Britain declared war on Germany

    This was the first time in history that tanks were used in battle. They were one of the most used items in trench warfare, although the dead lands kept them from doing all that much damage assuming the other side was prepared. Since then they are still used as a powerful wall breaker in many wars.

    During WWI we see submarines used in war for the first time. This was first used by Germany and became used by many. It was a way to scout your enemies from the water without being seen which was extremely helpful when planning how to attack certain coastal areas.

    The US joined the war on the allied powers side. They did so primarily because of German submarines constantly attacking US ships. The US ended up being one of the reasons that the allied powers did end up winning WWI.
  • Russian Revolution

    After an unsuccessful and unpopular attempt in WWI there is an uprising to end it. Russia officially leaves the war which does hurt the Allied Powers. Following Russia leaving the war Germany launches their spring offensive which pushes the Allies back 40 miles.

    The countries decided to meet for a peace conference in Paris to try to find an end to the war. They all agreed on the Treaty of Versailles which ended the war between Germany and the Allied Powers. This marked the official end to WWI, but not the end of all the years of reconstruction that would follow.
