Japanese invasion of China
A war was started because Japan thought they could take over China because they already took over Korea and Taiwan in 1931. They took over Manchuria eventually and wanted to break out of that small area and take over all of China. Japan wanted more resources which Manchuria and all of China produced. Rape of Nanking
Japan took over the capital of China, Nanking by order of their ruler. The way that the Japanese thought the could take over the Chinese was destroying their capital city, soldiers destroyed the Nanking city. They did this in a crazy violent way, they first of all burned up capital, raped over 20,00 women and young girls, and last but not least they killed and butchered male Nanking civilians in a very aggressive way.

Germany's invasion of Poland
Germany started WW2 by invading Poland. Britain and France declared war declared war on Germany a few days after the invasion of Poland. Within only one month Germany had taken over Poland. The invasion made it so the Germans could would help to make other countries motivated withing the near future.

German Blitzkrieg
The thing known as the Blitzkrieg (Lightning war) was a military tactic used by the Germans that started riots against the enemies in a mobile way.This made it so the enemy was very disorganized. It was used throughout the Invasion of Poland originally but then used to take over several other countries in the 1940's."Blitzkrieg tactics required the concentration of offensive weapons (such as tanks, planes, and artillery) along a narrow front."

Operation Barbarossa
The German army and navy tried to attack the Soviet Union and failed. There was very cold weather that was hard to work through off the coast of Moscow that helped to defeat the Germans. Since they had failed that operation, Germany faced a " two-front war that it could not win."

Pearl Harbor
In Hawaii, during the late 1941's the Japanese people decided to bomb a small island named Pearl Harbor to weaken the United States forces. This set off WW2. The United States were mad at the fact that Japan bombed them so they declared war on them. A few days later then Germany and Italy declared war on the United States because they were on Japan's side because they were apart of the Allies.

Wannsee Conference
Have you ever wondered how the Nazis came up with putting the Jews in work camps and killing them in gas chambers? It all started with this conference. 16 German Nazi officials met to discuss the final situation get get rid of the Jewish race. They had many ideas at first like to deport them do different countries or abandoned islands but instead they wanted to make them work to their death so it benefits them in the long run. This was the starting point of the Holocaust.

Bataan Death March
After Japan had bombed the United States, the people of Japan invaded the Philippines to gain more supplies. When Japan had captured the capital, the Americans and Filipinos, they forced them to go to Bataan. The next three months of that was filled with the Americans and Filipinos army and navy being taken over. When the forces were almost dead and crippled the U.S general surrendered 75,000 troops to Bataan.

Battle of Midway
This was a four-day sea-and-air battle between of course, the two biggest rivals, Japan and United States. The United States took out four of the Japanese aircraft as they only too out one of the USA's. This battle was being fought because they wanted to "widen its sphere of influence and conquest" and "to draw the badly wounded U.S. navy into a battle, determined to finish it off." This battle was trying to imitate the win at Pearl Harbor.

Battle of Stalingrad
Known as the bloodiest battle in the history of WW2, killing of two million, the Battle of Stalingrad stopped the advancement of the Germans into the Soviet Union. "Stalingrad was a large industrial city producing armaments and tractors and was an important prize in itself for the invading German army. "

Operation Gomorrah
Since Britain and United States (Allies) were sick of the Germans and all the horrific things they were doing throughout, they decided to bomb and raid Hamburg, Germany. The United States were mostly focused on the air raids for their bombs because they are known to have great atomic bombs as Britain was in charge of the land raids. The Germans ended up winning terribly but really helped out the allies.

The allies invaded the coast of Normandy and drove the Germans back to Germany. The allies wanted to get France fro Nazi control. After that, the allies wanted ti invade Germany so the United States went to battle with the soviets help.

Battle of the Bulge
This was a plan that was set by the Germans wanting to make sure that the allies move from France to Belgium. Since there was around 180,000 less American soldiers than the Germans had it was an easy task for them. But a little bit after that the Americans came for a sneak attack bombing the Germans since they made them move.

Operation Thunderclap
It started out with the Allies bombing a city in Germany by the name of Dresden. This killed hundred of thousands of people. It was stated that," it was the most destructive bombing of the war, topping Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This bombing was unnecessary because the Germans were already close to surrendering so there were 135,000 people unnecessarily killed at the hands of Americans. "

Battle of Iwo Jima
The battle of Iwo Jima was a battle between the Japanese people and the United States. The United States decided to attack the island of Iwo Jima in Japan for a base so they could attack Japan easier. There were a lot of Japanese soldiers that were guarding that island but it didn't take that long for the Americans to wipe them out.

Battle of Okinawa
This was a huge battle between Japan and America during WW2 in the Pacific. The United States lost alot of troops due to the Japanese new strategy called "Kamikake" Overall the United States ended up winning even though they lost alot of troops. They needed to win this battle.

Liberation of Concentration camps
Dachau was a Concetraiton camp that was very known and popular during WW2. It was the first created by the Nazi's.Then, since the United states was disapproving of these harsh things, they decided to liberate them. They ended up saving 30,000 prisioners. The allies shot up all of the German workers in the camp as well.

Dropping of the atomic bombs
The United States wanted one last thing to happen to Japan. They dropped atomic bombs on Nagasaki Japan and Hiroshima Japan. This made it so more then a thousand Japanese deaths happened. Then the soviet Union wanted to declare was on Japan but then right then and there they surrendered.

VJ Day
VJ Day was known as "Victory over Japan Day" This was when Japan Surrendered to the allies after the soviet Union declared war on them. This was the day to celebrate how much the Allies accomplished for their countries.
