    It was a military conflict fought primarily between the Republic of China and the Empire of Japan from 1937 to 1945.The war was the result of a decades-long Japanese imperialist policy aimed at expanding its influence politically and militarily in order to secure access to raw material reserves.The effects of this event was rapidly increasing numbers of women–beggars, starving street peddlers and concerned mothers of poor families–who decided to take part in the Communist movement.

    When the Japanese did a surprise attack against the navy of the U.S at Hawaii.This attack led to the entry of the U.S into WWll.The reason Japan intended the attack was to prevent the U.S. Pacific Fleet from interfering with military actions of Japan planned in Southeast Asia against overseas territories of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and the United States.On February 1942, Roosevelt used this event as propaganda for the U.S"Remember Pearl Harbor!" became the watchwords of the war.

    D-Day was the day Allied powers crossed the English Channel and landed on the beaches of Normandy, France, beginning the freedom of Western Europe from Nazi control during World War II.Since,Hitler’s armies were in control of most of mainland Europe, the Allies knew that if they could launch a successful invasion of the continent it would be essential to winning the war.Effect:It lead to the first liberation of the Nazis control of Europe.

    The battle of Iwo Jima was a major battle in which the U.S. Marines landed on and eventually captured the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese Army during World War II.The main goal of the battle was to provide a staging area for attacks on the Japanese main islands.One of the effects was the navy rebuilt the landing strips, which were used as emergency landing strips for USAAF B-29s.[

    The Battle of Okinawa was a series of battles fought in the Ryukyu Islands, which was centered on the island of Okinawa, and included the largest amphibious assault in the Pacific War during World War II.The U.S planned to use Okinawa, a large island very close to the mainland of Japan, as a base for air operations.With the capture of Okinawas U.S planned to invade japan however, Atomic bombs were later dropped on hiroshima and nagisaka which forced Japan to surrender.

    Two atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagisaka.The reason was because President Truman wanted to bring the war to a speedy end. The effects were devestating.The first bomb dropped on Hiroshima wiped out about 90% of the city and killed 80,000 people just from the explosion. Later more than 10,000 died from the radiation. The second bomb dropped on Nagisaka killed about 40,000 people. These incidents caused Japan to surrender to the Allied Powers.

    On August 15, 1945, news of the surrender was announced to the world. This sparked spontaneous celebrations over the final ending of World War II.This led President Truman to delcare September 2nd to be VJ Day.It raised morale and everyone celebrated WWII finally being over.
