    On September 1, 1939, German forces bombard Poland on land and from the air. Adolf Hitler seeks to regain lost territory and rule Poland. When Hitler invaded Poland, they declared war and this what started WWII.

German forces tried out the blitzkrieg in Poland before employing the tactic with invasions of Belgium. A German term for "lightning war," blitzkrieg is a military tactic designed to create disorganization among enemy forces through the use of mobile forces and locally firepower.

    Japanese planes attacked the United States Naval Baste at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii territory. The bombing killed more than 2,300 Americans that completely destroyed the American battleship. President Roosevelt moved the US Pacific Fleet from California to Pearl Harbor. This was a threat to Japan, wanted to expand in the Pacific. Japanese navy had many consequences, especially its role in the United States' entrance into WWII

    U.S surrender of the Bataan Peninsula on the main Philippine Island of Luzon to the Japanese. 75,000 Filipino and American troops on Bataan were forced to make an arduous 65 mile march to prison.

    Six months after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The United States defeated a Japanese attack against Midway. When the Battle of Midway ended, Japan had lost four carriers, a cruiser and 292 aircraft and suffered.

    United States and allied troops invaded at Normandy. This was the largest air and sea invasion in history. The purpose was to surprise Germany, but Germany was ready to fight. This was the beginning of the end of the World War II.
