Attack on Pearl Harbor
Soon before 8 a.m. on December 7, 1941, there was around hundreds of Japanese fighter planes that invaded the American naval base at Pearl Harbor close Honolulu, Hawaii. The barrage took only two hours, but it was horrific. The Japanese was able to abolish approximately 20 American naval vessels, counting eight enormous battleships, and more than 300 airplanes. Battle of the Coral Sea
This World War II battle lasted for four days and marked the first air-sea battle in history. The Japanese were looking to control the Coral Sea with an attack of Port Moresby, but the Allied forces were aware of their plans. Bataan Death March
April 9, 1942, after the U.S. surrender of the Bataan Peninsula on the main Philippine island of Luzon to the Japanese during World War II (1939-45), approximately 75,000 Filipino and American troops in Bataan were forced to make an strenuous 65-mile march to prison camps. Germany Surrenders
The German High Command, (General Alfred Jodl) signs the unrestricted forfeit of all German forces. In the beginning General Jodl wanted to limit the terms of German forfeit to only those forces still battling the Western Allies. Atomic Bomb #1
On August 6, 1945, during World War II, an American B-29 bomber released the world’s first organized atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The outburst wiped out 90 percent of the city and instantly killed 80,000 people; tens of thousands soon died of radiation exposure. Japan Surrenders
Japan properly forfeits to the Allies, producing an end to World War II. By the summer of 1945, the downfall of Japan was a foregone end. The Japanese navy and air force were demolished.
