Operation Gomorrah
Operation Gomorrah was when the British bomber raided Germany at Hamburg at night and the Americans bombed it by the daytime. The British aircrafts dropped 2,300 tons of incendiary bombs in just a few hours. 1,500 German civilians were killed in that raid by the British. Operation Thunderclap
In August 1944, operation Thunderclap was the code that was canceled and shelved. The plan was a series of massive attacks on Berlin and it was believe it would cause 220,000 deaths. The allies would believe it would shatter German moral, however it was than later discited that the plan would be unsuccessful. VE Day
VE Day is the victory in Europe Day. This was the public holiday that celebrated on May 8th 1945 to mark the surrender of Germany's armed forces. It marked the end of WWII in Europe.

Dropping of the atomic bombs
On August 6th 1945, in Hiroshima the United States Air Force dropped an atomic bomb, that killed the sea of thousands of people. By the initial explosion and then others were killed by the radiation and their skin melting off. Then later the US dropped another bomb on Nagasaki and in total 120,000 people died that day. Liberation of concentration camps
In mid January 1945, the soviet forces aproached the Auschitz, and started to eveaute the prisoners. They liberated 7,000 people from the camp in that day but many of them were severely ill and weak.
