    The Nanjing Massacre, also known as the Rape of Nanking, was a tragic event that occurred in Nanjing, China involving Japanese troops raiding civilians of Nanjing. During the massacre, Japanese troops murdered nearly 200,000 male civilians and raped or killed roughly 20,000 female civilians. This resulted in the collapse of the city.
