    Militarism is the policy of building up or creating a large military and having better weapons than any other country. Because of militarism the search for alliances was much stronger and cultures started to believe that war was good for the nations.

    Alliance is when countries come together with an agreement to help defend each other. In 1882 a triple alliance was formed with Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. With this alliance they were sure to leave France and other countries defenseless. But 15 years later France, Britain, and Russia formed their own triple entente. This eventually led to a world war because once Germany and France got in war all the alliances would be forced to be involved.

    Imperialism is when a country tries to extend its power through military force. Some examples are as Germany threatened to take Morocco from France. Also Britain and Russia fought over Asia. Imperialism brought tension between alliances and countries who don't interact into conflict. This led to The Russo Japanese War.

    Nationalism is pride in one country and the thought of their country being better than any other. Because of this old countries became aggressive and new countries are trying to take over other countries.

This was one of the causes of start of World War I.

Later the British documents confirmed that the Lusitania was not only carrying the passengers but ammunition as well. This led to the US congress declaring war on Germany.

Roosevelt put some reform measures back into place and the World War 2 helped american industries.
