    It was the spark that started World War One

  • Trench Warfare was used

    Trench Warfare is where soldiers dug holes under the ground and hid in them and shot from there -Diplomatic/military

  • Schlieffen Plan

    Schlieffen Plan took places,Germany planned to go west and to attack France, then quickly turn back east and attack Russia.

    Machine guns and posion gas was used very often during the war.

    Tanks were used and so was Aircraft,
    Aircraft would be used to look out for enemies, and tanks were nearly unstoppable.

    -Military/Diplomatic event-
    For Western front, When soldiers left Trenches to storm enemy ground, they faced machine guns, tanks, poison gas, etc.
    For Eastern Front, it showed more movement at first, but equally destructive. Russian Armies attacked both Germany and Austria Hungary

  • Submarines and ships were sunk

    Germany sunk ships and subs without warning in the waters of GB. They sunk American boats as well, and the Americans were incredibly angry.

    Russia leaves the war because they have to with their own civil war.

  • President Wilson adresses Congress

    President Wilson addressed Congress to announce that diplomatic relations with Germany were severed.

  • US declares war on Germany

    After Germany tried to contact Mexico saying that if Mexico helps Germany out, they can get some of the land that they lost with the US in the 1840's

  • Zimmerman note

    A note from Germany to Mexico was intercepted from the British, the note said if Mexico would join the war and if they won, they would give back some of the land the US stolen.

  • Wilson's speech to congress about his peace plan

    Wilson gave his speech to congress about his Fourteen Points plan. He believed that it would make a long, lasting peace.

  • Europe was finally at peace

    Germany's new government signed an armistice, an agreement to stop fighting.

  • Damage of the war

    8.5 Mill soldiers died, Buildings all around Europe were damaged or burnt, so much money was wasted due to buying weapons, etc. Estimated of $338 billion dollars was caused in damage.

    Treaty was signed to create peace, U.S. did not sign it. Germany signed it to pay for the repairs and damage of the war.

  • Germany was blamed

    France and Britain blamed Germany for the war, so Germany was being made to pay $33 Billion dollars in repairations

    The stock market crashed, which caused the whole country to go into a depression
