    Battle of Tannenberg

General Alexander Samsonov was in charge of the Russian army and invasion of East Prussia. He moved slowly into the south western corner to meet with General Paul Von Rennenkampf to move north east. The commanders of the German army made contact with the Russians and defeated them. The Germans lost 20,000 men but still managed to take over 92,000 Russian prisoners. Samsanov was so shocked by what happened, he committed suicide. The defeat of Russia was kept from the Britain public.(Simkin)
