With Roosevelt approving the military draft, this meant that men had to be prepared to enter combat at any time as the U.S. was on the brink of war. This had many nerves high as people feared entering the war and seeing loves one shipped away. -
A date that will live in infamy
The speech given by President Roosevelt was a huge social change. The speech that was given on the day after the attacks of pearl harbor basically meant that we were now involved in the hugest war ever. Now men had to prepare for war, and the woman and children had to go work in the factories and take the role of the men. This was a huge drastic change. -

With the United States offically entering World War 2, many of the men working in factories had to go fight. That is where the women came into play. They had to take the role of the men and work in the factories, which broke many barriors as this was this first time that many of the women had jobs. -
Propaganda Posters
With the war raging on in europe and the specific, the U.S. needed many volunteers to work in the factories. The government used porpaganda posters to target the culture and pride of the people. These posters made the poeple feel like that they could make a difference in the war, which they were. By targeting the culture of the people, the posters made the people feel inspired. -
Italy surrenders
With italy surrendering, that meant that the U.S. just had to focus on germany and japan. This meant that many U.S. soilders were able to go home and work in the factories, although many troops got to go home, many of them had to stay and fight as germany launched operation axis, which was to gain control of italy. -
D-DAY
On this day, US troops stormed the beaches of normandy, entering many troops into the war in europe. With the US fighting in the pacific and europe, the woman that worked in the factories had to work much harder as supplies were needed in order to win many decisive battles. -
FDR dies
With Roosevelt dying, Harry Truman was forced to take over as President. This was a major change for the U.S. because FDR had been the president since the beginning of world war 2, and now things would run a little bit differently with Truman in office, -
Atomic Bomb
The Atomic bomb was one of the biggest techonlogical changes during World War 2. The bomb was something people had never even heard of, until two of them obliterated two cites in a matter of seconds.This basically meant the end of the war for america as japan was left wounded. always present today. -
Atomic Umbrella
With the war ending because of the atomic bombs, this left not only the U.S. but the world under the atomic umbrella. This was basically the new threat of nuclear warfare. Nuclear warfare struck fear into many people because an atomic bomb can obliterate a city in a matter of seconds. It would not take long to destroy a whole country. -
United Nations Formed
With the Untide Nations being formed, it meant that after the war the countries would annually meet and discuss certain topics and ideas. This resulted in less conflict, and made many americans feel much safer.
