Two atomic bombs were dropped on to Japanese cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The US wanted to end the war as soon as possible so they sent the first atomic bomb but when the Japanese did not surrender they sent another one. The effects of doing this led to the end of the war in Japan. -

On this day Japan surrendered after having two atomic bombs go off in two of their cities. This marked the end of WW II.
