    75,000 Filipino and American troops on Bataan were forced to make an arduous 65-mile march to prison camps. The marchers would walk in intense heat and would be treated badly by the guards. Thousands died and what later became known as the Baatan Death March. Men were divided into 100 groups and it took each group 5 dasy to complete the march. Lieutenant General Homma Masaharu was held responsible for the death march, a war crime, adn was exicuted by firing squad

Except for 1,083 prisoners (two of whom did not surrender until 1951) the entire garrison was wiped out. American losses included 5,900 dead and 17,400 wounded.

Japan had lost more than 77,000 soldiers and the Allies had suffered more than 65,000 casualties—including 14,000 dead.Other U.S. losses in ground combat included 7,374 killed, 31,807 wounded, and 239 missing in action, this battle alone casued major damage and as a result there were 34 ships sunk and 368 damaged; 763 aircraft were lost.

American bomber Enola Gay dropped a five-ton bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima.The explosion wiped out 90 percent of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people; tens of thousands more would later die of radiation exposure. Then 3 days later america drops another one killing 40,000 more people. Japans leader unconditonally surrendered in world war 2
