AKA The Sino Japanese War, This war resulted from Japans desire to have imperial power over Europe. Japan needed more resources due to its isolated location and China had those resources.They wanted to prove they had strength and they were just as strong as other countries. -

Rape of Naking
Japanese Imperial Army marched into Nanking,China and murdered 300,000 of the 600,000 Chinese civilians. Old women over the age of 70 as well as little girls under the age of 8 were sexually abused. More than 20,000 Chinese females were gang raped by Japanese Soldiers and then stabbed to death with a bayonet. -
Germany's Invasion of Poland, 1939
1.5 million German troops invaded Poland. Germans would colonize the territory and the native would be slaves. Hitler was of course the leader. They invaded Poland and other countries and murdered millions of people simply because they thought they were racially superior. -
German Blitzkrieg, 1939-1940
AKA Lightening War, Blitzkrieg tactics required the concentration of weapons such as tanks, planes, and artillery along a narrow front. These forces would drive a breach in enemy defenses that would cause shock and disorganization among them. -

German troops announced over loud speakers that they were taking over.America(one of France's allies) was going to come aid the French through this tough time because they could not take on the Germans alone. -
Pearl Harbor, 1941
Hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. The Japanese had been planning this attack for quite some time while the Americans had no idea at all, so they were very unprepared, so many lives were lost as a result, and a battle as well. -
Bataan Death March, 1942
AKA Death March, approximately 75,000 Filipino and American troops on Bataan were forced to make a 65-mile march to prison camps. They marched in intense heat and suffered from harsh punishment from Japanese Soldiers. -
Battle of Midway,1942
One of the best U.S.victories against Japan during World War II.When this battle ended, Japan had lost four carriers, a cruiser and 292 planes, and suffered around 2,500 deaths. -
Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, 1943
People of the Jewish Ghetto staged an armed revolt against deportations to extermination camps. This encouraged other Ghettos to do the same thing. -
Allied Invasion of Italy,1943
Allies began their invasion of Europe with landings on the island of Sicily,and mainland Italy.Italian government secretly agreed to the Allies terms for surrender, but no announcement was made until September 8. -
D-Day (Normandy Invasion), 1944
The battle that foreshadowed the end of Hitlers dream of Nazi domination. Overlord was the largest air, land, and sea operation ever undertaken. This landing included over 5,000 ships, 11,000 airplanes, and over 150,000 service men. -

The largest sea/land-air battle in history. It is also the last battle of the Pacific War. -
Liberation of Concentration Camps, 1945
Soviet soldiers were the first to liberate concentration camp prisoners in the final stages of the war. Thousands were killed during death marches under horrendous conditions. When US forces liberated Dora-Mittelbau,only a few prisoners were still in the camp. -
