The Bitzkrieg was a military stratagy used by the Germans. They used this tactic in their invasion of Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, and France. The goal was to prevent the stalemate that occured in WWI. This war tactic allowed the Germans to become one of the strongest military powers.

Operation Barbarossa was the begining of Hitler's attack on the Soviet Union. The German army was doing well, but underestimated the conditions that they would have to face in Russia. The weather was cold and harsh, and lead them to failure.This put Nazi Germany in a two-front war that would lead to their downfall.

The US placed restrictions on Japan, which caused them to have a shortage of oil and natural resources. Because of this, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The Attack really damaged the American fleet and stopped the US from interefering for awhile. It ended up leading to the US to declare war on Japan, and then Germany.

The Wannsee Conference was a meeting held in Berlin. The meeting was called in response to the Nazi program called, "The Final Solution to the Jewish Question". It built a network of extermination camps that served to kill millions of Jews.

Operation Gomarrah was the planned bombing of Germany. British bombers raided Hamburg Germany during the night while Americans bombed it by day. 2,300 tons of explosives were dropped on Hamburg and 1,500 civilians were killed. This helped the decline of Hitlers regime.

On D-Day, over 150,000 soldiers liberated France.
Germany was struggling in the East, but had initally remained strong in France. The D-Day victory served as the final turning point in the war in which Germany would begin its decline.

The Battle of Iwo Jima took place when the Americans invaded Japan. The marines took over the Japaneese soldiers defending Iwo Jima. Although the Americans came out on top,it resulted in many casualities on both sides.

The United States was the first country in history to drop an atomic bomb. The bombing of hiroshima marked the end of World War II and the beginning of the Cold War. The blast was equivalent to that of 15,000 tons of TNT. Over 120,000 people were killed.
