Japan's Invasion on China
Invasion of ChinaNamed the Sino-Japanese War, the event occured on July 7th of 1937. The incident that occured was the invasion and conqureing of China. The event was triggered by the the conflict known as the Marco Polo bridge incident. It was a way for Japan to use China as both their pawns and source of natural resources. Events that occured was the death toll of 300,000 civilians and rapings of 80,000 women. This event helped Japan utilize natural resources to attack Pearl Harbor, triggering WWII in the East -
Germany's Poland Invasion
Germany's Invasion of Poland occured on Sept 1st 1939. The purpose was to create living space for the German People, It depolyed one of the German's tactics, the Blitzkrieg or the lightning war. This in turn effectively was used to help colonize and enslave people for the army. This event made France and Britain declare war on Germany. -
Germany BlitzKrieg
The German Blitzkrieg or the "Lightning War" was a German Tactic used to destroy cities/armies. It was first recorded deployment was in Septemeber of 1939. The purpose was to dwindle the armies from the sky using planes, dropping bombs and destroying the force on the ground. It changed warfare for WWII, and created horror and fear in France and Great Britain. -
Battle and Fall of France
The Battle and Fall of France was and event that lasted from May 10th to June 14th of 1940. This was Hitler's personal invasion of France. Hitler's Humiliation with the signing of a treaty in 1918 helped fuel the event. It consisted of 2 main operations. This event helped Germany gain more land and fuel anger in the allied powers as well as the US. -
Operation Barbarossa
Operation Barbarossa was an attack that occured on June 22nd 1941 and considered the biggest attack in WWII. Utilizing the Blitzkrieg method, he would launch massive bomb droppings in Russia, capturing over 300,000 russian soldiers and destroying miltia. The attack would ultimately fail due to the harsh winter conditions that the germans were not prepared for. This would escalte into large battles and casualties. -
Attack on Pearl Harbor
The attack on Pearl Harbor would be called "A date which we would live in infamy". It was a surprise attack conducted by Japanese troops. This attack was in retaliation of the Treaty of Versailles as well as the mistreatings of japanes people dating back to 1928. This resulted in the deaths of 2,300 americans and the US' spark to join the war. -
The Wannsee Conference
The Wannsee Conference was a gathering of German and Nazi officials to discuss the Jewish problem. The gathering had taken place on Jan 20th 1942 in effort to discuss the total annihilation og European Jews. This event was nicknamed the Final solution. Heydrich, an officer, stated that aprox 11,000,000 jews would undergo it.This idea spawned concecntration camps and ghettos for Jews to work and die in. -
Battle of Midway
The Battle of Midway was naval battle that was fought in aircraft. This resulted in the US' destroing the first line carrier for Japan. This in effect was some of the largest battles taken place on sea. The battle was caused to stop the japanese's further expansion/invasion in the Pacific. This set back Japan on an huge scale. -
Operation Gomorrah
Operation Gomorrahwas a Allied operation that took place on July 24th 1943 in Hamburg, german, it was combined effort of Britain and the US to retaliate for the deaths of 167 civilians of the british in july. This operation utlized birthis bombers in the night, and American bombers in the day, This would be one of the turning points in the war. -

Allied invasion of Italy was a major turning point in the war. Allied military leaders had planned and coordinated very carefully, focusing on the Sicily, Italy. The air bombings of italy would cause major changes in italy's infrastructure, it main purpose was to deter and steer italy away from the power of Hitler and Mussolini. In effect, would bring long political consequences as well as the defeat of Hitler. -
Normandy Invasion D-Day
D-Day was a huge point in the war. This was a large scale operation taking place in Normandy which would shape the course of history. This was an attempt to breach Fortress Europe and end Hitler's reign. Nearly 10,000 casualties occured. This event signified that the war was coming to its end. -
Liberation of Concentration Camps Begins
The Liberation of the Camps took place from July 23 1944 to mid April 1945. It was an effort to free prisoners of war. Over hundreds and thousands of people were freed. Despite the freeings, in Auschwitz, allies discovered nurmerous exprementations and traces of torture as well as 14,000 lb of human hair and remainings. This would scar generations for years to come. -
Battle of the Bulge
The Battle of the Bulge was a battle fought over the winter months of '44 to '45. This was the last battle to defeat the nazi offensice. It was a last ditch attempt by Hitler to split the Allies and destroy the resources. The success only lasted 2 days for the germans, as they were not equipped to handle the weather and the attacks of the allies. This in turn, signified the war was coming to close end. -
Operation Thunderclap
Operation Thunderclap an allied miltary Op that was designed to bomb most eastern cities of germany in the effort to deplete the transport infrastructure. It was also a demonstrationg for germans that Allied air defenses were superior. This in effect, was successful and destroyed germany's transports. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
The battle of Iwo Jima was an air attack that were strikes on Japanese home islands. It was in retaliation for Pearl Harbor. It was also designed to destroy the Rising Sun's military control and deplete the war. The attack was successful and it marked changes in Japanese tactics. American losses included 5,900dead and 17,400 wounded. -
The Batte of Okinawa
The Battle of Okinawa was the Allied forces engagement on japanese forces. This was considered the bloodiest war in the Pacific. It was the allied forces attempt to finally deter the japanese and win the pacific war. The attack was successful. Still the death toll included 65,000 casualties. This lead to the rise of kamikaze attacks. In the end the US won, and we won the pacific war. -
V-E Day
V-E Day was a victory for the Allies in WWII. They had crossed the rhine after smashing through the Siegfried line. The German's final collapse had came on April 25. After Hitler's death, the war was finally over, all they needed was to clean up the pieces. In effect, this helped the mark the day of allies' victory and celebration. -
Potsdam Conference
The Potsdam Conference was comprised of the Big Three. The 3 comprised of Joseph Stalin, Winston Churchill, and Harry Truman. The main purpose was to discuss how to recover after the terrible war, and how to rebuild. The conference was also a continuation of the conference in Yalta. This event would determine how the world would change and how they would deal with Germany. -
V-J Day
V-J Day was the official date of Victory over Japan. This signified a large impact in the Allied Forces. This was to signify that, yes, World War 2 was finally over. This called for the celebration as well as the return of many soliders and the beginning of the Baby Boomer Generation. -
Dropping of the Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
The Bombings were in the attempt to finally retaliate and retribute for the deaths of Pearl Harbor, The bombs were dropped by the Enola Gay, killing 60,000. This was the first attempt of the bombings and these would be the only 2 recorded bombings in warfare in history. This would shake the world for generations to come.
