On June 28th, 1914, Gavrilo Princip assassinates archduke Franz Ferdinand leading to Austria-Hungary to declare war on Serbia. Once more countries joined the war it was the central powers vs. the Allied powers. -

The British ocean liner, Lusitania, was torpedoed by a German submarine off the coast of Ireland. It sank within 20 minutes drowning 1,198 people. -

Unrestricted submarine warfare was introduced in early 1915 when Germany declared the area around the British Isles a war zone. Meaning everything in that space would be attacked by the German Navy. -

The Zimmerman Telegram was a secret diplomatic communication that made a military alliance between Germany and Mexico. Germany promised in the note that if the U.S. went into war then they would help Mexico regain the territory they lost in the 1840's. -

On April 6, 1917, U.S. entered WW1 to fight with allies France, Britain, and Russia. More than 2 million U.S. soldiers died fighting on France battlefields. Although many Americans wanted to remain neutral in the war. -

It was mainly the Central powers vs. the Allied powers. The Central Powers consisted of Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria. The Allied Powers consisted of Great Britain, France, Soviet Union, US, and China. -

The Treaty of Versailles was the most important treaty made to end WW1. It ended the war between Germany and the Allied Powers. It was signed on June 28, 1919. -

The Young Plan was the second renegotiation of Germany's reparation payment. Owen Young was the chair of the new committee that met in Paris in February of 1929 to revise the Dawes Plan.
