William Golding was born on September 11 1911 in Cornwall, England. His parents were Alec and Mildred Golding. -
Golding began to study at Marlborough, a boarding school in 1921 -
after going to Marlborough boarding school Golding went to Brasenose College to study the arts of English and science -
Golding wrote a series of poems called The Phoenix which acted as a kick start to his career. -
in 1939 Golding got married to Ann Brookfield, an analytical chemist. -
Golding joined the Royal Navy in 1940 until about 1946. He served on a destroyer of other German battleships. -
David Golding was his first child and was born in 1940. -
Lord of the Flies was his first book and best book. After this, he went on to create 12 more novels. -
In 1983 Golding gratefully received the Nobel prize. -
William Golding died on June 19 of 1993 in perranworthal, England because o heart failure at the age of 81.
