  • Missouri Compromise

    This split the nation between free and slave states, so the balance of free and slave states was created but it split the nation into two.
  • Wilmot Proviso

    Wilmot Proviso proposed to Congress that all lands agined from Mexico should be free. The bill didn't pass but it angered the southerners.
  • Compromise of 1850

    5 seperate bills to limit slavery and restore ballance. One was that there would be no slave trade in the nations capital. This angered southerners and was thought to undo the Missouri compromise.
  • Kansas/Nebraska Act

    Allowed the people of states to decide wether or not to allow slavery. It finished undoing the Missouri compromise.
  • Shelling of Fort Sumter

    Confederate artillery opened fire on Union Fort Sumter. No lives were lost, but it began the Civil War.
