An event that sparked religious revival within the people! It made them realize that doing good things for others would make them good themselves, which also started reform. -

A rebellion when farmers were angry about the taxes on liquor. They fought against the government and it came to the point where the government had to raise its defenses. -

A series of passed laws that started and made it so that it was a crime to talk against the government and it made laws against immigrants. -

This was war with Great Britain. It was over the impressment of U.S. soldiers. The U.S. won this battle. -

A compromise that added in Maine as a free state and Missouri as a slave state. This also makes the 36'30 line! -

The doctrine that made it so that the Americas would be protected by their military. This was so no colonization could occur in the unstable South America. -
Election of 1828
This was the election where Jackson was elected as president. It also created increased suffrage so all white men could vote. -
Nullification Crisis
This is when states, specifically the South, were going to leave the states due to the tariffs and how badly they affected them. -
Texas Annexation
Texas decided to become a states within the U.S., which caused some problems and border disputes with Mexico soon after. -
Seneca Falls Convention
One of the many movements in the Reconstruction Era. It was for the movement of women's rights. One main document was the Declaration of Sentiments, which stated grievances and needed freedoms. -
Mexican Cession
From the dispute of Texas Annexation, there was the war that the U.S. won. They got the whole mexican cession for 15 million. -
Compromise of 1850
A compromise that added California as a free state and made slave trade illegal in some places. However, the Fugitive Slave law was created, which was meant to capture runaway slaves. -
Kansas-Nebraska Act
This act made it so this territory would be up to Popular Sovereignty to make them free or slave. This made riots and many people race to make it to the states and influence votes. -
Dred Scott v. Sandford
The very notable court case that said that all blacks were considered property and not citizens. They also said that the Missouri Compromise was unconstitutional. -
Election of 1860
This was the Election of Abraham Lincoln. The South was so angry that they all seceded because he was against the expansion of slavery. -

Emancipation Proclamation
A document that allowed all able bodied men to fight in the war for freedom! This also freed all slaves back in the Confederate States. -

This was when states were freed after the Civil War. There were many instabilities when it came to the South and the loss of slaves. This ended in 1877 with the removal of the military. -
Compromise of 1877
A compromise that was made so that Hiram Revels could become president. In exchange, however, he had to take the Union out of the reconstructing Southern states.
