Proclamation of 1763

The Proclamation of 1763 forced colonists to not settle west of the Appalacian mountians.It was signed into use by king George the lll.The main reason for this act was to make peace with the natives.

The sugar Act

Apr 5, 1764

It was a heavy tax on non-British thing shipped to the colonies such as sugar and molasses.The main reason for this is so the British can make more money to repay the colonies for the French and Indian war.This caused anger in the colonies who had the qoute ''Taxation without repersentation".

The Stamp Act

Mar 22, 1765

The Stamp act was a tax on all things printed such as newspapers,dice,playing cards,etc.The reason for this act agian was to pay the British debt.This also was extremely angering to the colonists.

Boston massacre

Mar 5, 1770

The Boston massacre was a protest/riot started by the Patriots.The British soldeirs nearby saw this and fired upon the Patriots killing 5.This act was called a massacre by pro-Patriot newspapers.On the other hand this was called a good thing by pro-British papers.

Boston tea party

Dec 16, 1773

This was a political protest against the British goverment because of the heavy taxing in recent years.For this protest Patriots dumped 342 chests of tea into the Boston harbor.This led to higher tensions between the British and the Patriots.

Boston port Act

Mar 31, 1774

This was a law enacted by Britian banning any unloading of goods to the Boston harbor.The reason for this was the Boston Tea party.This is considered unfair because it punnished all people for a crime only a few commited.

Administration of justice Act

May 20, 1774

This was a act to ensure a fair trial for the British officials who got charged with capital offenses while upholding the law.This was angering to the Patriots because they thought moving the trials to England would ensure freedom for the officials.For this reason some colonists would call it the murder act.

Massachusetts Government Act

May 20, 1774

This changed the Massachusetts government system to give more power to British members that were royally appointed.This angered the Patriots a lot because it was basically putting Massachusetts back under British control.This was unfair because it took away the democratic rights to elect leader and hold town meetings.

Quartering Act.

Jun 2, 1774

This act allowed for British troops to go in a private home and live there even if he doesn't own the home.This was very unfair for the owner of the home who had to let the soldier live in the home.The reason the British said is this would make it easier to house soldiers.

Quebec Act

Jun 22, 1774

This showed the Patriot show how the British will likely refuse to give the Patriots their inalienable rights.This led to a huge angering of the Patriots.This act is seen as a major cause of the American revolution.
