The Louisiana purchase was when President Jackson bought a bunch of land for his people. The land was dangerous and unexplored. He eventually sent louis and clark to explore, map, and chart all the animals of it. -

TheErie canal was made in order to link the Great Lakes with the Mohawk river. It was hoe western farmers ship their goods to the port of New York. -

The Indian Removal Act was when President Jackson wanted to take away the Indians rights and their land. The supreme court had given the indians rights to keep their land but Jackson didn't care. -

The trail of tears was when the Indians were being taken off their land and many died in the process. There was a long trail that the indians were taken to. Along the way mnany Indian died and each tinme if they didn't have the time or the ground was to hard they would cover the dead bodies up with a blanket instead of burrying it. -

At the Alamo, an old missionary place, the texans had to stay there because of the 6,000 Mexican soldiers. There were only 350 Texans, but they stood their ground for 12 days until they were over thrown and they were all killed. -

This was the day Texas signed the paper saying they were TEXAS. -

The Oregon Trail was started by missionarys from Oregon told the rest of the country how there was lots of land,it was beautiful, and it was spaceous. They all traveled to Oregon on a wagon train. There were many dangers out there. People died of disease, animals, accidental shoting, hunger, thirst, and hosile natives. -
Texas annexed by the United States
This is when Texas wsa taken in by the Unitred states and became a member of the USA. Texas had been waiting awhile for this and wanted it. This also happened after The Alamo -

The gold rush started at Sutters Mill. People started to flock to California to get rich quick. -
When California became a state
It was surrendered by Mexico and proclaimed July 4, 1848. From then until statehood California had a military government until Dec. 20, 1849, and then a local civil government. It was never a territorial government. -
Gadsden Purchase
The gadsden Purchase was when Mexico signed a treaty to hand over land to the U.S. -

Oregon Trail
This was when Missionaries in Oregon gave it GOOD reviews and many people went to Oregon. On the way they suffered dehydration, lack of food, sickness, and "accidental" gunshots. Many People died on the way but it was worth it to get a fresh start on new land.
