The Bill of Rights is another name for the Constitution's first 10 amendments. The Bill of Rights is a big part of how our country has freedom. It was written by James Madison, and was signed by 39 other people. -

The Indian Removal act was granted in 1830 by president Andrew Jackson. This gave people the authority to kick Native Americans out of their homes so they could have the land. -

Trail of Tears
In 1838, as a part of Andrew Jackson's removal plan, the Cheeroke Indians were forced to give up there land East of the Mississippi, and move to an area in present-day Oklahoma. Over 4,000 of the 15,000 Indians died on the Trail of Tears due to hunger, disease, and exhaustion. -
Flordia Becomes U.S. State
In 1845, Spain finally agreed to give the Florida land to the United States by signing the Adam-Onis Treaty. It was signed by Spanish minister Luis de Onis and U.S. Secretary of State John Quincy Adams. -
