The Bill of Rights is a document writen by most of ur founding fathers that would insure our rights as a free people. It is currently the only sucessful document that has ever been writen. Many others tried, but they all failed, except for the U.S. -
Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase was large chunk of land bought by the U.S. form the French for $15 million, which would even out to
3 cents/acre and would double the size of the U.S. The Purchase had a great play in Westward Expansion. In fact, It was what started it in the first place. -
Lewis and Clark Expedition
The Expedition lasted 2 years/1804-1806 and went literally from "sea to shining sea". Lewis and Clark were acompanied on this journey with Sacagawea (a Native American woman who saved their livesmultiple times). They were the first people to see the Pacific Ocean. -
Florida Becomes U.S. State
Florida was bought bought by the U.S, from the French. The French, at the time, did not want to give up the settlement, but they were on the brink of war with the British and were afraid to lose it to the British. Then the French got the idea that they would sell Florida to the U.S. for $5-$7 million. -
Indian Removal Act
The Indian Removal Act was a very unfair law that was passed to "kick" Native Americans fro their homes. The idea first started when Florida was purchased and the U.S. wanted to settle in. Many people were driven from their homes by force, and this was just the begining. -
Trail of Tears
The Trail of Tears was a devastating event that went on from 1838-1839. As it occured, many Native American were killed. As they continued to be treated mercilessly, they traveled a total of over 800 miles on foot throught multiple states. -
The Mexican American Wars
The Mexican American Wars lasted to 2 years. They vicious and bloody. Many people died...on both sides. The Americans won the war and with it, land that is now known as Arizona, California, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, southwestern Colorado, and southwestern Wyoming. Mexico received $15 million and gave up its claims to Texas. -
Transcontinential Rail Road
The first railroad that was ever built to go form the east coast to the west coast of our country. It made transportation easier and well as transporting goods to markets. Everyone had different opinions on this.
