Texas was annexed in 1846, it was formerly a part of Mexico. -
Mexican Cession
The Mexican Cession consist of present day U.S. states of California, Nevada, Utah, most of Arizona, about half of New Mexico, about a quarter of Colorado, and a small section of Wyoming. -
Gadsden Purchase
The purchase included lands south of the Gila River and west of the Rio Grande. It was bought from Mexico. -
Oregon Territory (British)
When established, the territory encompassed an area that included the current states of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, as well as parts of Wyoming and Montana.
