This act from Andrew Jackson removed the southern indian tribes to west of the Mississippi in exchange for their homelands. -

Texas Annexation
This purchase was made by the United States from Mexico. This acquired land is what we call now Texas, the "pan handle" of Oklahoma, the east side of New Mexico, some of Colorado, and some of Wyoming. -
Oregon Treaty
From this treaty we aquired the Northwest. This land includes Idaho, Washington State, and Oregon from Britan. -
Mexican Cession
The Mexican Cession was a purchase from Mexico, and this land includes the states California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, some of Wyoming, some of Colorado, and some of New Mexico. -
Gadsden Purchase
The Gadsden purchase was made by the United States from Mexico. This purchase is a rather small purchase containing land from what we call now Arizona and New Mexico.
