Great Britain and France were fighting with each other. They were fighting, so that stopped trade with other nations, which hurt American business. Great Britain stopped some of the U.S. ships and took Americans from the ships. The British showed no signs of changing what they were doing,so we declared war on them. -

Tecumseh warned his brother not to fight until he got back. The prophet did not listen and led his men near the campsite. He gave orders to attack the white men before daybreak the next morning. The first gunshot was fired by the Indians. -

Perry said " we have met the enemy and they are ours." Perry's fleet engaged Barclay at Lake Erie. Lawrence was overwelmed by the British squadron. Perry boarded a small boat and went to niagara. He used niagara to turn the tide of the battle of Lake Erie and succeed. -

On July 3rd, 1814,Americans crossed the Niagara river at Buffalo. On July 5th, 1814, Americans turned back a rash attack by the British. On July 25th, 1814, the niagara campaign came to a a climax and was the bitterest battle of the war of 1812. -
British attack Washington D.C. And burn the Capitol and White House
As British troops were spotted int the distance, Dolley decided to abandon the couples's belonging gs and leave to safety. The British got to the White House and realized that the president and his wife already went to safety in Maryland. President Madison and his wife were able to return. -
British attack Baltimore
British soldiers walked 12 miles to Baltimore. They soon came upon a small force of Americans. The americans are beat by the British. The british walk another 2 miles of open ground under enemy fire after the battle. There was a plan the the British came up with but the Americans figured it out. The British gave up their territorial demands because they did not have great victories. -

There was a few fights that led up to the battle of New Orleans. The battle of New Orleans was the last major battle of the war of 1812. Even though the war of 1812 was officially over in December of 1814, it takes a long time to spread the news. The battle of New Orleans started before word spread to America. -

This battle was near Waterloo, in present day Belgium. Wellington's army was positioned across the road on Mont-Saint-Jean, and withstood a lot of repeated attacks by the French. Coalition forces entered France and restored Louis XVIII to the throne of the French.
