Hull's Proclamation
General William Hull made a campaign for the War of 1812, asking for the help of the Canadians against the British. His proclamation was a failure and led to him surrendering at Detroit on July 16th. -
Battle of Queenston Heights
British victory. It was the first major battle in the war. The United States regulars and New York milita forces were led by Major General Stephen Van Rensselaer against the British regulars, York volunteers, and Mohawks who were led by Major General Isaac Brock until he died, in which Major General Roger Hale Sheaffe took over. -
Siege of Fort Meigs
American victory. The British troops recieved help from the Indians to attempt to capture the fort, but failed. -
Laura Secord
She was a Canadian heroine of the War of 1812, in which she walked 20 miles out of American-occupied territory to warn British forces of an impending American attack. -
Battle of Lake Erie
The United States won this battle. The victory ensured American control over of the lake for the rest of the war. -
Battle of the Thames
United States victory. British troops were in Detroit until the U.S. Navy gained control of Lake Erie, which led to them being deprived of supplies. The British troops moved north, but were driven away by the American force. -
Lt. Colonel Charles de Salaberry
Was known for his role in war for repelling the American advance on Montreal. The fall of Montreal would've probably happened if it wasn't for him. -
Battle of Chippawa
United States victory. The American army invaded Upper Canada which was located along the Niagara River. -
Battle of Lundy's Lane
British victory. Battle had taken place in present day Niagara Falls. Known for being one of the bloodiest battles of the war and one of the dealiest battles fought in Canada. -
The Treaty of Ghent
The peace treaty that ended the War of 1812. Returned the borders of the two countries to the line before the war started.
